Labour Minister, Keyamo empowers 1700 in Delta State

No fewer than 1,700 people from Uvwie kingdom in Effurun, Delta State, have benefitted from an empowerment programme initiated by the Minister of state for Labour and employment Mr. Festus Keyamo.

At a ceremony on Thursday to distribute the items to the beneficiaries,Keyamo gave out 1000 laptop computers to unemployed youths, sewing and welding machines to artisans. He also disbursed loans to women as well as micro traders.
The programme was carried out under the National Directorate of Employment’s scheme MEES in line with the federal government directives on job creation.
The National Directorate of Employment NDE is one of the parastatals directly under the supervision of the minister of state for labour and employment, and this parastatal was created with the mission to design and implement the creation of jobs that will promote positive change, generate employment , reduce poverty and create wealth.
The programme which took place at the PTI conference Centre Complex Efunrun was graced by dignitaries such as the Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi, the DG of the National Directorate of Employment Dr. Nasir Mohammed LadanArgungu as well as the former speaker of Delta State House of Assembly Victor Ochie. The royal father of Uvwie Kingdom His Majesty Emmanuel E Sideso OON, JP ABE1 not only graced the occasion but also held a reception for the dignitaries.
