The popular Lagos club, Quilox night club in Victoria Island has been shut down by the state government, over non-compliance to orders given about noise pollution.

The enforcement was made by the state Environmental Protection Agency, (LASEPA).

It was reported that the agency had sent a statement to issue a directive over a complaint made by the residents of the axis.

The club didn’t comply with the agency’s order of organising the event without obtaining a sound control permit.

LASEPA and Lagos State Task Force around 4.30pm shut the club down.

The agency’s General Manager, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, confirmed the news.

He said, “To avert situation like this, we recently held a stakeholder’s parley with the Owners/ Chief Executive Officers of night clubs in the state to address the issue of noise pollution during the festive period.

“The states in its magnality, compassionately increased the decibels to accommodate leisure/hospitality business interest.

“We urged them to apply for sound control permits to enable us reach out and notify the host community of the intended program and further deploy our officials to the venue for proper monitoring and prevention of excessive noise pollution.”
