Landlady in court over alleged breach of trust

The police on Wednesday arraigned a 50-year-old landlady, Olajumoke Azeez, 50, in a Karmo Grade I Area Court, Abuja, over alleged breach of trust.

Azeez, who resides at Lugbe zone 5 village, Abuja, is charged with two counts of breach of trust and cheating, contrary to Section 312 and 322 of the Penal Code

The Prosecution Counsel, Mrs Ijeoma Ukagha, told the court that on May 29 the nominal complainant, Mrs Oke Osnachi,  Sector ‘F’ FHA Lugbe Abuja,  reported the matter at Lugbe Police Station.

Ukagha said that on Nov. 17, 2018 the complainant bought a property worth N700, 000 from the defendant.

She said the defendant criminally refused to hand over the property converted the N700,000 and N30,000 agent’s fee to her personal use.

The prosecutor added that during police investigation the defendant made a confessional statement.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Abubakar Sadiq admitted Azeez to bail in the sum N600,000 and a one surety in like sum.

Sadiq ordered that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.

He adjourned the case until Aug. 31 for substantive hearing
