Legendary American country music singer, Dolly Parton, has turned 75. She is the inspiration behind Dollywood, a family amusement park in Pigeon Forge.

The country queen was born on January 19, 1946, as the fourth child of 12, raised in Locust Ridge, Tennessee.

Married to Carl Thomas Dean, the talented singer plays banjo, piano, harmonica, saxophone and many more.

The 10-time Grammy award-winning country music superstar made hiit songs like “Jolene’ and ‘9 to 5’. She founded Dollywood Foundation and donated $1,000 per month to families impacted by wildfires in Tennessee.

And last year, she donated $1 million to battle the coronavirus.

“I’m just happy that anything I do can help somebody else, and when I donated the money to the COVID fund, I just wanted it to do good,” she told TODAY last November.

Parton launched the Imagination Library back in 1995, intending to give children in Tennessee free books each month. Today, Imagination Library is now one of the largest literary programs globally.

They have distributed more than 100 million books to children, a tremendous gift that became the subject of a documentary in 2020 called “The Library that Dolly Built.”

In 2018, the Library of Congress honoured her for the library. “Of all the things I’ve done in my life, this is one of the most precious,” Parton said.

Dolly had also saved a little girl’s life while filming the Netflix holiday special “Christmas on the Square.”

The young lady, Hill, told Edition in December, “We were on set, and I was at the hot chocolate station, and they said go back to your beginning positions.

“So there was a vehicle moving, and I was walking, and then somebody grabbed me and pulled me back, and I looked up and it was Dolly Parton.”

Parton was the recipient of the Living Legend Award by the U.S. Library of Congress.

The people of Tennessee have drafted a proposal for a statue to honour her in her home state to celebrate the singer.
