Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has volunteered to donate his blood for a COVID-19 research work in the state.
Mr Makinde made this known in a tweet on Wednesday morning.
According to the governor, being a survivor, he is willing to allow experts experiment with his blood on “Evaluation of Post Infection Protection Against SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19) in Nigeria.”
His words: “We have been advocating for local solutions to the COVID-19 pandemic in Oyo State. So, as a COVID-19 survivor, I volunteered to donate my blood to be studied by our experts researching on the ‘Evaluation of Post Infection Protection Against SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19) in Nigeria'”.
Governor Makinde tested positive for the coronavirus on March 31 and returned negative a fortnight later.
Aside the governor, the state has recorded 10 other COVID-19 cases.
Nigeria’s overall positive cases reached 373 on Tuesday with the highest daily of 30 recorded.
