Man docked over alleged attempt to defraud hotel

A 43-year-old man, Samson Onyejiakuzi, was on Thursday brought before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly attempting to defraud a hotel.


The defendant appeared on charges of fraud and conduct likely to cause breach of the peace.


He, however, pleaded not guilty.


The prosecutor, Insp. Kehinde Olatunde, said that the defendant committed the offences on May 7 at 9.00p.m., at No. 34/35, Fashoro St., Surulere.


He alleged that the defendant lodged into G8 Hotel, Surulere, for a day and refused to pay for lodging, food and drinks as well as for the hotel vehicle that took him to an airport.


The prosecutor said that the bills amounted to N68,500.


He submitted that the offences violated Sections 168, 323 and 326 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.


The Magistrate, Mr Tolu Agbona, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.


He adjourned the case until May 10 for mention.
