Music Producer, Dr Frabz, dies

Nigerian Music Producer, Ayorinde Faboro popularly known as Dr. Frabz, is dead. The news was confirmed by friend and colleague, Samklef.

The singer broke the news on Twitter, he revealed he had communication with the deceased weeks prior his death.

His first tweet was on Saturday, February 27, 2021. He tweeted: “One of Nigeria’s legendary producer just died. Sad day for me.”

He also tweeted: “Rip legend! Ayo ( dr Frabz) We spoke 2 weeks ago u asked how is Houston treating me ? I came to Maryland yesterday only for me to hear that u are no more today. What a sad day! A brother is gone! Another producer is gone! RIP!”

An Indigene of Ekiti State, the producer had worked with the best of Nigerian musicians before relocating to the United States of America where he lived before he died.

According to a popular singer, Nikki Laoye, the producer was shot dead. She wrote, “Oh my God persevering face… My dear brother, Dr Frabz @DoktaFrabz… This is such terrible news. Just heard that he was shot… Who did this? I am so pained right now. What kind of news is this ehn?”

Many Nigerians have reacted to the news and to pay condolences to the late producer.

Singer Emma Nyra wrote, “This life is really beans! That’s why it’s so important to live life to the fullest. I’m grateful that u shared your talent with the world. Rest in Paradise Dr Frabz Broken heart.”

Lawyer and social media influencer, Modupe Odele, also said she had received texts from the deceased few weeks.

She tweeted: “His last text to me only a few weeks ago was how we should grab lunch since we are now neighbours. I never confirmed. Rest in power rockstar. Thank you for sharing your gift. I’ll still check out Zion West in your honour.”

Dr Frabz has worked with the finest artists like Wizkid, the late DAGRIN, Omawumi and many others.

Another music producer, Shizzi, has also reacted to the news, he tweeted: “Checked on him on snap few weeks ago..RIP Dr Frabz! Good spirit .”

The late producer started music at the age of six when he started playing the piano, and started music as a profession in 2006 with ‘the moniker Dr Frabz’, which stands for Doctor of Flavour, Rhythm and Blues.

After creating N’sayne Entertainment, he worked with several music artists like Naeto C, Dagrin, YQ, Omawumi, Shank and others.

Dr. Frabz produced hit songs like Dagrin’s “Thank God”, WizKid’s “Bombay”, and “Joy”.

Born in Lagos State, he started from the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral in Ikeja, where he played the keyboard, the drum, and other musical instruments.

He won several awards as the school pianist and choir leader at Doregos Private Academy in the Ipaga suburb of Lagos.

Frabz had his tertiary education at Covenant University, where he studied International Relations.

He discovered the production software called Fruity Loops while studying in Covenant University. His journey to becoming one of Nigeria’s best producers began from there.

He started working for Don Jazzy and D’Banj’s Mo’ Hits Records where he had the opportunity to meet several artists.

He was also romantically linked to Omawumi but the relationship ended a year later.
