Senate President Ahmad Lawan says the National Assembly will pass the 2023 Appropriation Bill on Thursday.
Disclosing this at plenary on Wednesday, Lawan said the budget would be harmonised with the House of Representatives before Thursday.
He said, “the passage would ensure that the January-December budget circle is sustained. ”
Lawan added that after the budget’s passage, the National Assembly would adjourn legislative activities for the Christmas and New Year breaks.
Meanwhile, the speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, had confirmed on Tuesday that the budget would be passed on Thursday.
While speaking to State House reporters after meeting with President Buhari, Gbajabiamila said the House would use 10 days to do “house cleaning matters” and attend to emergency issues before going back for campaigns and elections.
President Muhammadu Buhari had presented the 2023 budget proposal of N20.5trn to the National Assembly on October 7.
