Barely 48 hours after his remand at the Kuje Correctional Centre, Senator Ali Ndume has appealed an order by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The Borno South Senator has been in prison since Monday for failing to produce a former chairman of the defunct Pension Reformed Task Team Abdulrasheed Maina who jumped bail.

Ndume filed 12 grounds of notice of appeal at the Court of Appeal in Abuja on Tuesday through his lawyer Marcel Oru.

His legal team also filed an application for “bail pending appeal” before the court, reports say.

It was gathered that both the notice of appeal and the application for bail had been served on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which pushed for Maina’s remand till he is able to produce Maina or pay a N500 million bail bond for standing as surety.
