Nestle tops losers table as equity market dips by N89bn

Nestle Nigeria Plc yesterday recorded the highest loss at the Nigerian Stock Exchange, dropping by N25.00 to close at N1450.00.

Total Nigeria Plc trailed with a gain of N2.80 kobo to close at N200.20 kobo, MRS Oil fell by N2.55 kobo to close at N23.15 kobo, Unilever Nigeria Plc down by N2.55 kobo to close at N33.75 kobo while Okomu Oil went down by N2.40 kobo to close at N77.60 kobo.

Stanbic IBTC, on the contrary, led gainers table, gaining N0.50 kobo to close at N47.00, Guaranty Trust Bank followed with a gain of N0.35 kobo to close at N33.85 kobo, Diamond Bank Plc gained N0.18 kobo to close at N1.98 kobo, Eterna Oil added N0.10 kobo to close at N4.40 kobo while Wapco increased by N0.05 kobo to close at N11.35 kobo.

The NSE trading result showed that Market capitalisation of listed equities declined by N89 billion or 0.78 per cent to N11.336 trillion from N11.425 trillion reported on Friday. Also the NSE All Share Index depreciated by 238.62 basis points to 30400.28 points from 30638.90 points traded the previous day.

Investors traded a turnover of 222.583 million shares worth N3.342 billion in 3746 deals against 334.316 million shares valued at N1.771 billion in 4082 deals.

A review of the investment showed that Diamond Bank Plc recorded the volume of transactions for the day, exchanging 77.676 million shares worth N153.103 million, Zenith Bank Plc followed with account of 19.746 million shares cost N430.097 million, FBNHoldigs traded 10.819 million share cost N80.604 million, Guaranty Trust Bank traded 8.456 million shares valued at N286.036 million while Access Bank sold 7.329 million shares cost N42.935 million.
