President Muhammadu Buhari has said that his administration will ensure that no part of the country suffers neglect as a result of its geographical location or political inclination.

President Buhari made this vow during the commissioning and handing over ceremony of the erosion and flood control project at Oghighe Uruala Ohukabi in Oguduasa Isukwuato local government area of Abia State.

The erosion and flood control project was one of the twenty ecological intervention projects approved by President Buhari for the first quarter of 2020 and specifically designed to address the challenges of soil erosion in the area.

Speaking at the commissioning of the project, President Buhari, who was represented by the Deputy Chief Whip, House of Representatives and member representing Isukwuato Umunneochi federal constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, said that the successful completion of the project would not only better the safety and well-being of the citizens of the surrounding communities but would also improve their standard of living.

The President noted that the project would provide ample opportunities for socio-economic growth to members of the communities.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ecological Fund Office, Abuja, Dr Habiba Lawal, represented by a Director in Ecological Fund, Mr Clinton Igwe, pointed out that the commissioning and handing over of the project to the benefitting communities would serve the dual purpose of enabling the communities to take over and exercise ownership as well as to ensure its maintenance and sustainability.

It was also stated that the erosion control project would provide an enabling environment for enhanced socio-economic activities amongst benefitting communities in the state.
