Mr Oludaisi Elemide , the lawmaker representing Odeda in the Ogun House of Assembly, has appealed to the Federal Government to expand the busy Asero – Obantoko road to boost business activities.

Elemide made the appeal in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abeokuta on Wednesday .

The lawmaker said that the road, which was constructed in the early 70s, remained the main link connecting Ogun and Oyo states from Abeokuta.

He said that the road required expansion to ease the heavy traffic encountered on it on daily basis which had resulted in loss in man hours.

“There are no motorable feeder roads on that lane; assuming we have feeder roads, the traffic load on the road would be reduced.

“There is heavy traffic from morning till night and what people don’t realise is that we burn more fuel while precious time is being wasted.

“From Moore junction to Asero and to Obantoko, the set back is there , so government doesn’t need to demolish many buildings and the cost of construction will be very low.

“If the road is expanded it will boost economic activities and property in the area will appreciate in value,” he said.
