Ogun monarch, Oba Adekoya is dead

The Dagburewe of Idowa in Odogbolu, Oba Yinusa Oladele Adekoya, in Ogun State has died.

Oba Adekoya passed away on Sunday at aged 87.

Late Adekoya is recognized as one of the most prominent kings in Ijebuland.

He is the second-in-command to the Awujale of Ijebu land, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona Ogbagba II.

Reacting to the monarch’s demise, the governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun said in a statement that it is a deep loss.

“With deep sense of loss, we mourn the passing of our beloved Royal Father, Alayeluwa, Oba Yinusa Oladele Adekoya, the Dagburewa of Idowa.

“This is a sad development that touches my heart as I have always shared a deep and robust relationship with the late traditional ruler whose contributions to humanity cannot be underestimated, especially in Idowa and Ijebuland as a whole.

“We express our heartfelt condolences to the entire family and the good people of Idowa, and pray God grants them the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss,” Governor Abiodun said.
