The Ondo State House of Assembly commenced its legislative assignments Wednesday after about two months Covid-19 emergency recess.

Welcoming the members of the house, the speaker of the house, Rt Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun, appreciated the legislative members for their proactive roles and generosities on the Covid-19 lockdown palliatives distributed to their respective constituencies in order to cushion the effect of the lockdown in the state.

In addition, the House invited the Commissioner for finance in the state, Mr. Wale Akinterinwa to brief the sitting on how about N14.8b appropriation was expended so far on the environmental and infrastructural projects in the state.

A motion was earlier moved on the issue by the Chairman, House Committee on finance and appropriation, Hon. Sunday Olajide. He went further to plead with the members of the assembly to allow the state finance Commissioner to shed more light on the development.

While submitting, the Commissioner hinted the house that the said money was expended on the development of the state infrastructures, which have become necessary for the progress of the state.

In his contribution, a member of the finance and appropriations committee, Dr. Abiodun Faleye representing Akure North constituency of the state, specifically commended the roles and competence of the Commissioner, asking him to deploy more commitments at ensuring proper accountability, stating that the finance Commissioner should be able to give adequate explanation on the expenditure of the appropriation.

In his remarks, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun, ordered the finance Commissioner to present all documents backing up the appropriations to the committee of finance and appropriations of the assembly on Thursday 14th of May 2020 for clearing.
