Ondo Decides: Akeredolu, Jegede and Ajayi win polling units

The three major candidates in the Ondo State governorship election have won their individual polling units.

Incumbent governor of Ondo State, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who is seeking reelection on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, won the most votes in his Polling Unit 6, Ward 5, Isokun, Ijebu Owo, scoring 413 votes to defeat Peoples Democratic Party’s Eyitayo Jegede, who polled 12 votes; and the Zenith Labour Party’s candidate, Agboola Ajayi, who polled no votes.

Jegede also won his Igbogin/Isikan Ward 2, unit 9, polling 220 votes against 60 recorded by PDP’s Akeredolu while Ajayi polled seven votes.

Also, Ajayi, the deputy governor of the state, won in his polling unit in Kiribo in the Ese-Odo Local Government Area of the state.

According to the result displayed at the unit by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, titled ‘Publication of Result of Poll’, the Zenith Labour Party candidate, Agboola, won the Apoi Ward II, Unit 004, Idumado Quarters, Kiribo with a wide margin, polling 395 votes. Akeredolu scored 13 votes while Jegede polled five votes.

The sorting of votes and counting is still ongoing at the various polling units in the state as Ondo State await their next Governor.
