Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has cancelled his plan to physically attend the 12th Bola Ahmed Tinubu Colloquium holding in Kano.

His spokesman Laolu Akande tweeted on Monday saying the vice president cancelled his scheduled trip due to bad weather. He added that Prof Osinbajo would join the colloquium virtually.

“VP Osinbajo spending the day celebrating Ashiwaju on his 69th birthday. Was on course to Kano this morning until weather conditions aborted travel plans. He’ll alongside Mr. President join the 12th BAT Colloquium virtually from the Presidential Villa. Happy birthday to Ashiwaju,” he wrote.

Tinubu arrived Kano on Saturday ahead of the colloquium. He was received by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and a large crowd at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.

The colloquium seeks to discuss peace-building and national cohesion as tools for growth and prosperity in Africa.

President of Liberia, George Weah, former President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Koroma; and Vice President of ECOWAS Commission, Finda Koroma, among others, have been confirmed as speakers at the event.
