The Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Prince Adewole Adebayo, in the last poll says the Presidential Election Petition Court should not be blamed for affirming the victory of President Bola Tinubu.

The court, in it’s ruling, dismissed the petitions brought before it by Labour Party, it’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Atiku Abubakar.

The judgement has sparked controversies despite alleged rigging and violence during the elections across the country.

Reacting, Prince Adebayo said the court is not to blame affirming Tinubu’s presidency, noting that the judgement was delivered based on the evidence brought before it.

The renowned lawyer argued that the petitioners failed to present to the court, evidence of what happened on the field, during the election.

In his words, “The position which I maintained after the election is what the court has validated. I have the unique advantage that I participated in the election from the ballot and I am also a lawyer who has been in election matters for over two decades.

“So i know what the rules are so that is. Why you see I didn’t go and file any petition at all. And if you see my interview from March, after the election till when the proceeding went on, I made it clear that there is a difference between what happened in the field and what is before the court.

“So your chances of succeeding in court is tied to what you file in court and present to the Court. Once what is before the court is different from what happened in the field, the judgement will reflect how the court view what is filed before it and would not bear the reality of what happened on the field. So if you look at that judgement in law, you will score the Judges 98 to 99 percent.

“From the legal point of view, you cannot fault the judgement. ”
