Police arrest 503 suspected bandits, kidnappers in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Command has arrested about five hundred and three (503) persons for a variety of offenses, including banditry, armed livestock rustling, culpable homicide, vandalism of rail tracks, and other connected crimes.

One of the accused, Ismail Mohammed of Maijere Village Saminaka in the state’s Lere local government area was alleged to have killed his brother Kabiru Mohammed after extorting N120,000 from the family as ransom.

Parading the suspects at the command’s headquarter , the spokesman of Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Muhammed Jalige told newsmen that the suspects were arrested between May to June 2023

He added that nine stolen automobiles of various types, four AK-47 rifles, three revolver pistols, two pump action guns, 2,800 pairs of railway slippers, and nine other weapons were found on the suspects.

One hundred and twenty-nine AK-47 live rounds, two tricycles, two hundred and twenty-nine rusted calves, and eight sheep are among the additional goods found.

The police spokesman added that the apparent calm and serenity currently enjoyed in Kaduna State is evidence that the command is doing everything in its power to safeguard the lives and property of the state’s residents.

He assured residents that the Kaduna Police Command is determined to ensure that criminal elements are denied the space to carry out their nefarious activities across the state.
