A presiding pastor of the House on the Rock Abuja, Uche Aigbe, has been arrested by the Nigerian Police Force over his possession of a firearm, AK47.
The clergyman was seen in a viral video on Monday, February 13, 2023, where he was ministering at the altar with the firearm attached to his belt.
The Police Public Officer, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement stated that pastor Uche has been summoned to the station to state how he was able to acquire a firearm.
The Police officer said no civilian is permitted to carry firearms around.
In the statement released, the officer said, “We have commenced investigation into this. The PPRO FCT will make an official statement as soon as possible. Thanks.
“We have requested the video of the service to hear what the pastor was saying. How did he get the gun, maybe from a security agent? He has been invited by the CP FCT. IGP has ordered the CP FCT to handle it and revert so that Nigerians will know what transpired. Thanks
“But if it’s true, the pastor will have a case to answer. AK47?? It falls under Prohibited Firearms in Nigeria, and no one bears it except an officer of the law, and not all of them have the right, selected sec. operatives, but no individual has the right to bear it.”
Rumour has it that a police officer allegedly identified as Musa Audu provided the gun. He has also been allegedly arrested and questioned.
