The Rivers State Police Command has neutralised four persons, including one female, who were all suspected members of a notorious gang of kidnappers operating along the Emohua Local Government Area (LGA) axis of the East West Road.

The Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Polycarp, told newsmen in Port Harcourt on Wednesday that the kingpin, 25-year-old Nwodi Amadi of Elibrada community in Emohua LGA, was neutralized during an operation carried out by the Command’s C4i Intelligence team at 11 p.m..

Amadi was wanted on suspicion of armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, and other offenses. One AK-47, one pump action rifle, and one assault weapon, as well as rounds of live ammunition, were discovered.

Polycarp, who was flanked by senior police officials from various formations, alleged that the gang engaged the police in a gun battle at Ogoloma community in the state’s Okrika LGA, where they had been hiding.

“There is no safe haven for criminals in Rivers State,” maintained the CP.

Chidi Lloyd, the Local Government Chairman of Emohua, who had placed a N2 million bounty on the kingpin’s head, lauded the police commissioner for a job well done, adding the vow had been redeemed to the police.

Some of the victims recovered from the kidnappers’ lair have also been reunited with their families.
