Police rescue 4 kidnapped Corps members, one other victim in Katsina

The Police said they had rescued four members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) kidnapped on Monday in Katsina State on their way to their orientation camp in Zamfara State.

One other passenger traveling in the same vehicle with the Corps members also kidnapped was also rescued from their abductors.

The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), DCP Frank Mba disclosed this in a statement in Abuja.

He said the police also recovered two riffles from the abductors.

Mba said the victims were kidnapped on Monday along Funtua-Gusau Road on their way to NYSC Orientation Camp, Gusau in Zamfara.

According to him, the successful rescue operation came as a result of diligent and intense intelligence gathering, sustained and coordinated operations.

He said the corps members, Oladehin Paul, Ojo Temitope, Ojewale Elizabeth and Adenigbuyan Adegboyega had been handed over to the Zamfara Director of NYSC.

Mba also said Mohammed Ardo, a co-traveller from Gusau, who was kidnapped along with the corps members, had been rescued and successfully reunited with his family.

He said the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu commended the Commissioner of Police in charge of Katsina, Mr Sanusi Buba, his operatives and citizens of the state who supported the operation.

He pledged the unrelenting determination of the police to rid the nation of all forms of crime and criminality.
