The Agodi Gate area of Ibadan was in chaos on Tuesday as prison officials clashed with motorcyclists in the area.

The clashes started in the early hours of Tuesday with gun shots fired. The reason for the clash is still unclear.

According to sources, two people have been allegedly shot dead. The victims are yet to be identified.

Information reaching KaftanPost confirms that youths of the area are on the verge of starting a protest to avenge the death of these victims, with bonfires already set up in different areas.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed he had deployed security agents to the scene to restore peace.

“Contrary to the currently trending news online that the Policemen fired shots leading to injury at Agodi gate area this morning.

“The truth is that there was a clash between officers of the correctional service and bike men stationed at Agodi Gate.

“Upon receipt of this information, policemen, as well as other security agencies, moved to the scene to ensure there is no break down of law and order that could lead to a coordinated attack on the prison facility,” the PPRO added.

He later ensured the people of Ibadan that the Police will try all possible best to stop the havoc from expanding further.

Ibadan is believed to be one of the peaceful cities in the country as confirmed during the ENDSARS protest.
