General Overseer Of Redemption Ministries Worldwide, Reverend Stephen Akinola, has died, aged 68.

The popular cleric was said to have undergone a kidney transplant months back, though the cause of his death is still unknown.

He died in the early hours of Sunday, June 6.

The members of his congregation were reported to have rushed to the church headquarters in Port Harcourt to mourn the clergyman when the news broke.

Akinola, who was Port Harcourt based, was born in Tamale, the Northern part of Ghana, but he was of Igboho ancestry.

Former Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, who is also the former Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Rivers State, Apostle Eugene Ogu, confirmed Akinola’s demise on Sunday.

“Yes, it is a very sad day for the Christian community. While we were still talking of Prophet TB Joshua, Akinola’s death happened.

“It is so sad. I pray that God comforts the entire body of Christ because he laboured so much for the body of Christ.

“That his soul rests in peace and God condoles the body of Christ and his family,” he said.

His death comes hours after the death of General Overseer of the Synagogue Church, Prophet T.B Joshua, who died on Saturday, June 5, 2021.
