A High Court, siting in Maitama, Abuja, has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to unconditionally release Godwin Emefiele, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), or produce him in court on Monday, November 6, by 1pm.

The order followed a motion filed by Emefiele against the Federal Government, the Attorney-General of the Federation, Chairman of the EFCC and the Anti-graft agency.

Ruling on the ex parte motion numbered FCT/HC/CV/040/2023, M/122/2023, filed on Tuesday, October 31, Justice O.A. Adeniyi on Thursday, ordered the EFCC to “unconditionally release” Emefiele or in the alternative produce him in court on Monday, November 6, for hearing of the substantive motion on notice for the purpose of being admitted to bail by the court.

“Accordingly, it is hereby further ordered that the motion on notice shall be heard on Monday, 6/11/2023, by 1pm prompt. The instant order, together with the motion on notice shall be served on the Respondents today”, the court further ordered.
