The Rivers State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Zacchaeus Adangor, has resigned from his office.

The development was contained in a letter addressed to the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

In the letter, Adangor said his resignation was “based purely on personal reasons”.

However, feelers are that the resignation may not be unconnected to the political crisis rocking the state.

The political space in Rivers has been tensed in the past months. The development took a different turn when lawmakers loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
