Kano State government has ordered the immediate closure of Bagauda Technical College over security threats.

This was disclosed by the state commissioner of education, Sanusi Sa’id Kiru, in a press release on Tuesday morning.

He said the decision to close the school became imperative following a disturbing security report and the need to protect the lives of the students, teachers, and staff of the college.

He, therefore, urged parents to immediately evacuate their children from the college and wait for further directives from the government.

“The closure of the college was necessitated following a disturbing security report and the need to protect the lives of the students, teachers, and other staff of the college.

“We express appreciation of the state government to parents/guardians for their unflinching support and cooperation on government’s policies and directives especially on security-related matters,” he said.

Recent happenings in the country have seen hundreds of students especially those in boarding schools in the north abducted by Boko Haram militants and bandits.

It would be recalled that in December 2020, about 300 students were reportedly kidnapped in Kankara, Katsina state just as hundreds of others were also abducted by gunmen in Jangebe, Zamfara and Kagara in Niger states.

Kaduna Sate has also experienced such attacks in recent times following the abduction of students of Federal College of Forestry Mechanization, Afaka, and Greenfield University by gunmen last week.
