Socialite Bolu Akin-Olugbade dies of Covid-19

Popular socialite and business tycoon, Bolu Akin-Olugbade, has died at age 64.

According to KaftanPost sources, the billionaire, reputed for his collection of exotic cars, died on Wednesday of coronavirus complications.

Akin-Olugbade was said to have fallen ill after returning from a wedding ceremony on Boxing Day.

Reports say he served as the chairman of the wedding reception.

He was reportedly rushed to a private hospital in Ikeja, Lagos State capital, from where he was said to have been discharged last week.

He was however, rushed to one of the isolation centers in Lagos Island, last weekend when his condition deteriorated.

A successful lawyer and titled chief in Egbaland, he was known to be obsessed with collecting Rolls Royce brand of car.

He was said to have about 10 of the cars in his fleet with each bearing a customized plate number.

Akin-Olugbade attended Corona School, Yaba; King’s College, Lagos; London University; University of California (Master’s in Law); and Cambridge University where he got his doctorate specialising in Company Law.

His business interests cut across law, property development, construction, manufacturing, logistics, distribution, maritime and offshore services, investment banking, among others.

His marriage to Ladun, his wife of 40 years, was blessed with children and grandchildren.
