Ikare Akoko in Ondo State is under pandemonium as sporadic shooting erupted the heart of the town over a dispute on the Olokoja of Okoja chieftancy title.

The dispute has unfortunately degenerated to the use of weapons like guns and cutlasses.

It was reliably gathered that few policemen and soldiers were seen in the town on Tuesday morning as at 8:15am in order to maintain law and order.

Many residents of the area have reportedly deserted the town.

A community leader, who spoke with KaftanPost correspondents under anonymity, said all efforts to reach the State Commissioner of Police and the Commanding officer of the Nigeria Army, 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure had not been successful.

The residents urged Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to prevail on the security operatives to act appropriately to further prevent loss of lives in the commercial town.
