The Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has stated that a multi-level policing system is the best way to take the country out of the security challenge it is facing in recent times.

Akeredolu stated this at the state Christian service in commemoration of the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, held at St. Benedict Military Catholic Church, Owena Cantonment of the Nigerian Army, Ondo Road, Akure, on Sunday.

The governor emphasised the issue of state police, stressing that it had become more necessary than ever.

He also called for more provision of modern equipment for the Nigerian military to help in their fight against insurgents and other criminalities in the country.

He opined that “better ammunition and welfare of the security agencies must continue to be at the forefront, to better encourage and support the officers in their fight against criminalities.”

Akeredolu commended the support and commitment of the military in securing the state and confronting kidnappers and other criminal elements who are troubling the peace of the state, adding that the Nigerian military counter-terrorism efforts aimed at ridding the country and the state of criminal elements was laudable.

In his remark, the Brigade Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Zakari Abubakar, appreciated the commitment of Akeredolu to the brigade, soldiers, widows, and dependents of the fallen heroes.

He said the command recognised and valued the continued supports and encouragement of the governor, urging him to continue supporting the army.
