The suspended Managing Director of Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Usman, on Thursday joined Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in Zaria for the Eid el-Fitri celebration.

Usman worked closely with El-Rufai during his time as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Despite her long-standing relationship with the governor, she was suspended last week by President Muhammadu Buhari on the recommendation of the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, over allegations of financial misappropriation.

An 11-man panel of inquiry has been set up to probe her activities.

Usman and El-Rufai joined the emir of Zazzau Ahmad Bamalli for Eid el-Fitr prayers.

In a tweet, Usman, however, expressed optimism that she would be vindicated.

“At the place of the Emir of Zazzau with my forever Boss @elrufai. We remain resolute in the belief that the truth always triumphs…Allah’s protection and guidance for always,” she wrote.

The governor also shared a picture of himself with her on Twitter appearing to show support for the woman who was his chief of staff from 2015 to 2016.

Buhari had, in January, reappointed Usman for a second term of five years as NPA boss.

Usman was born on January 2, 1976, in Zaria.
