Former US president, Donald Trump has fallen out with Mitch McConnell, branding him “a dour, sullen unsmiling political hack” after he unleashed a stunning attack on him.

This is after McConnell, a leading Republican in the Senate blasted Trump for being “morally and practically responsible” for the Capitol riots.

The former Senate Majority leader had slammed Trump for his potential criminal conduct after he was acquitted 57-43 in his historic second impeachment trial last Saturday.

“They did this because they had been fed wild falsehoods by the most powerful man on earth because he was angry he had lost an election,” said Mr McConnell at its conclusion.

“Former president Trump’s actions that preceded the riot were a disgraceful, disgraceful dereliction of duty.” McConnell had said.

Trump therefore, replied him on Tuesday which is his most significant statement since leaving office on 20 January – urging lawmakers to dump the veteran Kentucky politician.

“Mitch is a dour, sullen, and unsmiling political hack, and if Republican Senators are going to stay with him, they will not win again. He will never do what needs to be done, or what is right for our country,” Trump said.

According to the former president, the GOP would “never again be respected or strong” with McConnell “at its helm”

“McConnell’s dedication to business as usual, status quo policies, together with his lack of political insight, wisdom, skill, and personality, has rapidly driven him from Majority Leader to Minority Leader, and it will only get worse,” Trump added.

Trump also blasted McConnell over China, knowing that the senator is married to the ex-president’s former secretary of transportation Elaine Chao, who was born in Taiwan. She had resigned from her post after Trump’s supporters launched a lethal insurrection at the US Capitol on 6 January.

Trump said that he is willing to back anyone in primary battles against sitting Republicans, “who espouse Making America Great Again and our policy of America First.”

He added: “We want brilliant, strong, thoughtful and compassionate leadership.”

“This is a big moment for our country, and we cannot let it pass by using third rate ‘leaders’ to dictate our future!”
