President Donald Trump has been impeached for the second time on Wednesday on the charge of incitement of insurrection.

This is after the president incited a violent mob to storm the Capitol last week, resulting in five deaths.

The final vote was 232-197, with 10 House Republicans supporting the measure.

About a week ago, his supporters assailed the Capitol in Washington leading to the deaths and injury of several persons in a bid to stop the Congress from confirming Joe Biden’s victory.

The Congress were determined with just seven days to the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden on January 20 and mobilised as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi named nine Impeachment Managers on Tuesday after Vice President Mike Pence told House leaders that he does not support invoking the 25th Amendment process to remove Trump.

About 10 Republicans voted a yes for the impeachment of Donald Trump and the most surprising Republican “yes” vote on impeachment came from Tom Rice of South Carolina.

Trump has become the first president in US history to ever be impeached by the House twice.

The matter will now go before the Senate, as they will also decide whether Trump should be convicted and removed from office.
