Budding singer, Emokhare Felix, with stage name ‘Fexsy’ has lamented how he believes up-and-coming singers should be treated so they can show what they are made of.

The upcoming singer stated that music is not well appreciated enough but embraced when there is connection or settlement involved.

Fexsy said, “In Nigeria, one sees people whose songs are not so good getting better airplay and support from music bigwigs because of the personal relationships and connections those singers have.

“Meanwhile, very talented singers are out there and they are given no opportunities to shine. They deserve to be given a level playing ground.

The artist also revealed challenges they go through while trying to promote their songs. He stated that it’s an expensive journey and that his major problem now is how to raise funds.

“Promoting music is very difficult and it has become quite expensive to get on a proper distribution platform.

“One of the major challenges I am facing at this stage of my career is finance. I need money to produce quality music, shoot good videos and promote them.”

Recently, the artist had featured DMW artiste, Peruzzi, on the remix of his song, Vacation.

The artist said he is ready to feature both Nigerian and foreign artistes, and also explore different genres of music.

Fexsy also has appealed to the government to include artist promotion to their budget. He revealed that in developed countries, singers can release songs and begin to earn directly from them in less than a year.

The singer went on to say artists do not even earn as much as they want even when they make good songs well accepted by fans.

“The government needs to invest in the entertainment industry because it can make a lot of money for the country. Our music is currently the toast of the world, so we have to build it properly so that we can maximise the gains in it,” he said.

He went on further to say how he gets inspiration from the success stories of African superstars, Wizkid and Davido. He said, “I draw inspiration from the success stories of superstars such as Wizkid and Davido.

“Their early tracks may not have been so great but they worked hard to get better and earned themselves a place at the top of the industry.

“When I look at them, I am motivated to do better. I am sure that one day, I would be one of the top stars in the country.”

Fexsy assured his fans that he would be dropping an album soon.
