Daughter of a former governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, Sadiya Wamakko, died at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto on Thursday.
Sadiya, 23, lost her life following complications arising from childbirth.
She was buried according to Islamic rites on Thursday night at Wamakko’s residence in Sokoto.
Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Juma’at Mosque, Sokoto, Liman Akwara, led the funeral prayer.
In attendance were a former deputy governor, Wamakko; national commissioner of the National Population Commission, Chiso Dattijo; and a former deputy governor and executive secretary, Police Trust Fund, Ahmed Sokoto.
Other dignitaries who attended the funeral were the Magajin Garin, Sokoto and Magajin Rafin, Sokoto; Hassan Danbaba and Rilwanu Bello respectively.
Wamakko is currently the chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence and deputy chairman, Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption.
He had lost his younger brother, Buba Wamakko, at age 66 in April.
