Music producer, Bankole Wellington also known as Banky W, has debunked rumours that the winner of Shine Ya Eye, Whitemoney, is signed to his record label, Empire Mates Entertainment (EME).
Recall that weeks ago, the rumour had circulated in the media after the reality TV was spotted in a picture with Banky W. He also hinted at a new beginning and the best time to make good music in his caption.
This had prompted a rumour that he is signed to EME for his music career.
The reality TV star turned singer had vowed to win a Grammy with his talent.
In a new interview on Hot FM Lagos, Banky W, has cleared the air.
According to him, the record label had been changed to a media and marketing agency in 2017 and the picture captured with Whitemoney has nothing to do with a signee.
He said he only helped Whitemoney to get an ambassadorial deal with a company he is familiar with, an influencer deal for one of the corporate brands that EME consults with.
He said, “We transitioned from a record label to Media & Marketing Agency.
“I didn’t sign Whitemoney, we helped him with an influencer deal with one of the corporate clients that we service, so he is an ambassador for a company.
“So, we helped him to a marketing situation. We didn’t sign him.”
