Mr Godday Erewa, a governorship aspirant under the People’s Democratic
Party ( PDP) come 2020 in Ondo State, has distributed 33 bags of rice, 27
bundles of cloth and 84 hampers to the party members.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Erewa hails from Ese-Odo
Local Government Area of the state.
Erewa, who distributed the gifts at the party secretariat in Akure on Tuesday,
said that he carried out the gesture because it was a period of joy and time to
give.
“This is a festive period, a period of joy and this time is meant to part with gifts
and you know that our party is not in power in the state now.
“I have come to give from the ward level to the state level of the party
structure.
“I have come to make them know that there is cause to celebrate and it’s my
belief that come 2020, PDP will take charge of the state,” he said.
On 2020 gubernatorial election in the state, Erewa said that he had been
doing consultations across board in the party, adding that victory was sure at
the appropriate time.
He encouraged the party faithful to remain one and optimistic.
“Our members should remain hopeful and not to lose courage. Let them be in
one mind in order to win the next governorship election because we have what
it takes to win the election,” he advised.
Responding, the state Chairman of PDP, Chief Clement Faboyede, said that it
was a thing of joy to receive the gifts from the aspirant.
“It is good for those that have to give to those that do not have. This is what he
has done.
“He gave us use rice, bundles of cloth, hampers, diaries including money. He
has spent millions of naira doing this.
“PDP needs to be one and other members should emulate this gesture of Hon.
Erewa,” Faboyede said.
