Senegal has disclosed the readiness of the country to make use of witch doctors to heal the injury of the national senior men’s football team captain, Sadio Mane ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Mane was ruled out of the World Cup after he picked up an injury while in action for his German club, Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

However, Senegalese senior executive Fatma Samoura, who is FIFA’s first female Secretary General, said that her country is willing to go to extreme methods to heal Mane.

According to Samora, the unorthodox methods may not work but they have to try in the slim hope that the practice proves successful.

“We are going to use witch doctors,” Samoura told Europe 1.

“I don’t know (if they’re effective) but in this instance, we’re going to use them anyway.

“We are hoping for miracles. He has to be there!”

Despite his fibula injury, Mane is set to be included in Senegal’s World Cup squad, which will be announced on Friday.

The 30-year-old fired Senegal into the World Cup after scoring the winning penalty in their play-off against Egypt.
