No fewer than 274 Israeli diplomats and nationals have been flown out of Nigeria in one aircraft amid the coronavirus outbreak.

With the dreaded  pandemic on the rise in Nigeria, several countries are working out modalities to evacuate its citizens despite the country’s ban on international flights.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority had last week issued a circular that all international airports should remain closed to international flights till further notice.

Exemptions were however made for humanitarian, medical relief, cargo, technical and safety flight operations.

Israel appears to have capitalised on this to evacuate its citizens from Nigeria.

Air-France KLM had similarly evacuated some European nationals from Nigeria on Thursday.

It would be recalled that Israeli Defense Minister, Naftali Bennett, had forecasted that almost 70 per cent of the world’s population will be hit by the coronavirus.
