A Nigerian nurse, Olubunmi Olugbileeti, has died as a result of COVID-19 complications in the United States.

Olugbileeti passed away in home in Brooklyn, New York, during her self-isolation.

Medical personnel on the frontlines are becoming more vulnerable to the coronavirus.

Nigerian health care givers are not spared by the rampaging contagion that has killed over 270,000 persons worldwide.

A 55-year-old nurse, Esther Akinsanya, recently lost her life in similar fashion in the United Kingdom.

Akinsanya worked at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich and was rushed to the hospital but died on April 15.

Meanwhile, a new report has found black people to be four times more likely to die from Covid-19 than white people.

According to stark official figures exposing a dramatic divergence in the impact of the coronavirus pandemic in England and Wales, the difference in the virus’s impact was caused not only by pre-existing differences in communities’ wealth, health, education and living arrangements.

It discovered that after taking into account age, measures of self-reported health and disability and other socio-demographic characteristics, black people were still almost twice as likely as white people to die provided-19-related death.
