Veteran Nollywood actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo popularly known as RMD, clocked 60 today, July 6, 2021.

The astounding actor was born on July 6, 1961 in Aladja, Delta State according to wikipedia.

His works in the movie industry, both in the indigenous language and English Nollywood movies, are prominent enough to say the least.

The name ‘RMD’ has created wonderful works of art since his debut in 1997 with his first recognised movie, ‘Out of Bounds’.

Here are five of his evergreen and astounding movies of all time:

Out of Bounds
This was RMD’s first attempt at filmmaking. We cannot talk about his achievements in the movie industry without touching on ‘Out of Bounds’. RMD received a writer/producer credit for this movie. The movie starred actress Bimbo Akintola and Rachael Oniga.

Diamond Ring
The 1998 movie ‘Diamond ring’ distinguished RMD as a wonderful actor among his peers. The script depicts Chidi played by RMD who was in possession of a dead woman’s ring and was punished for it, along with his friends who were involved in the act. He starred in the movie with prominent actors like Sola Sobowale, Teju Babyface, e.t.c. It was produced by Tade Ogidan.

30 days in Atlanta
RMD starred as Kimberly’s father in ’30 days in Atlanta’. A movie produced by Ayo Makun also known as comedian AY. He was Odiye in the movie and also a U.S based Nigerian who owns a restaurant. It premiered in October 2014.

10 days in Sun city
This is another Ayo Makun movie and it premiered on June 17, 2017. AY was also one of the leads, likewise RMD, who starred as Otunba Williams. The story depicts an aspiring beauty queen who was made to deny her lover who is also her manager in order to climb the ladder of fame. But fate was on their side when Otunba’s past caught up with him. Other leads include Adesua Etomi, Mercy Johnson, and rapper Folarin Falana, also known as Falz.

The Wedding party 1 & 2
What’s the ‘Wedding Party’ movie without the likes of RMD? He brought out his charisma as the father of the groom in both movies. His calm and collected role earned him another stamp of honour on his shoulder. RMD portrayed a father who pushes his sons to be great in life irrespective of other people’s opinion on how to live their lives. Even though he pushed one of his sons harder in the movie, he is still leading in our books. The movie broke the record as the highest grossing Nigerian movie in 2016 and was replaced in 2017 when the sequel was released. The wedding party was directed by Kemi Adetiba.
