Actress Kate Henshaw has received backlash over her comment on Mr Ibu’s health.
Recall that a few days ago on the actor’s birthday, he had cried out soliciting for funds over his failing health.
The actress on Friday took to her Instagram page to release a statement on behalf of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) as their Director of Communications.
In her statement, she revealed that the agency has been supporting Mr Ibu privately before his ailment became public.
However, in her caption, she also noted the agency will only be effective when dues are being paid.
An excerpt of her caption read, “The Guild is made up of its members and can only function effectively when we all pay our dues and identify with it. Thank you.”
She also said in the video, “It is necessary to set the records straight over the public outcry about the AGN abandoning Mr Ibu. The Guild has never abandoned any of its members, especially those with health interventions.
“We’ve been at the forefront of providing necessary support for Mr Ibu even before his health condition was ever made public. And this was done with full knowledge of his immediate family.
“We’ve had to task members privately to help provide assistance towards our intervention for his health issues. But it would be wrong to make it public knowledge any form of assistance we provide to our members in need.”
The statement did not sit well with some fans who called her. Some said they stopped being her fans over her comments. Others chastised the agency for their neglect.
