Former Minister of Science and Technology Maj.-Gen. Sam Momah (rtd.) is dead.

Momah served as minister during the late General Sani Abacha regime.

He died on Wednesday afternoon following complications arising from diabetes.

Momah had only celebrated his 77th birthday on July 6 during which he launched his 13th book titled Restructuring to save Nigeria from post-oil disintegration.

Survived by a wife, children and grandchildren, he was also the pioneer director at National War College.

“I still believe I should be alive to see Nigeria improving from what it is today. This is because the way the country is going is a bit demoralising. I do hope that one would be able to be alive and see the better part of Nigeria. This is why I wrote my current book on ‘restructuring’ to probably be able to live and see Nigeria turning a new leaf, and then being a trajectory to greatness,” he had told Daily Trust on clocking 77.
