Abducted community head in Abuja dies in kidnappers’ custody

The village head of Ketti community in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Sunday Zakwoyi, who was abducted by armed terrorists reportedly died in his abductors’ custody.

Zakwoyi reportedly died in a forest in Nasarawa State.

Zakwoyi, one of his aides, Mr Markus Gade, and another resident of the village were kidnapped on June 3, 2023, and that last week, their abductors demanded a N9 million ransom.

The District Head of Ketti, Mr Alex Akata, who confirmed the village head’s death said the deceased was confirmed dead by those that were freed by the abductors on Friday night.

Akata said Zakwoyi died on the next day he and two other victims arrived at their abductors’ den in a thick forest in Nasarawa State, saying he died as a result of trauma.

It was gathered that the corpse of the late chief might be difficult to trace as it might have decomposed.
