The abducted students and staff of Government Science College, Kagara, Niger State have been released after more than a week in captivity.

According to Channels TV, a government official confirmed the release.

The official was quoted as saying the released abductees were on their way to Minna, the state capital.

The victims were said to have been released from a location close to where the fifty-three passengers abducted in a state’s bus, while returning from a wedding ceremony, were released a week ago.

They are expected to be received by Governor Abubakar Bello at the Government House in Minna.

Gunmen had on February 17 stormed Government Sciemce Secondary School, Kagara and whisked away 42 people, including students and staff, from the school.

Bandits dressed in military uniform had stormed the school on February 17 and abducted 27 students, three staff members, and 12 members of their family.

The abduction forced the governor Abubakar Bello to close boarding schools in crises areas.
