The Department of Security Service has reportedly arrested media the aide of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, Salihu Tanko-Yakasai, over his criticism of the current administration.

Yakasai, who tweets with the handle @Dawisu, had on Friday, called on President Muhammadu Buhari and other leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to resign following the abduction of 317 students in Zamfara State.

“Clearly, we as APC government, at all levels, have failed Nigerians in the number one duty we were elected to do which is to secure lives and properties. Not a single day goes by without some sort of insecurity in this land. This is a shame! Deal with terrorists decisively or resign,” Yakasai had shared on his Twitter page.

Yakasai was declared missing hours after the tweet was issued.

However, Yakasai’s close associate later confirmed his arrest by the DSS.

“Alhamdulillah we just confirmed @dawisu is at DSS office,” a Kano state government official tweeted.

This is not the first time Yakasai has openly demonstrated his frustration at the ruling government.

In October of 2020, he was suspended by Governor Ganduje for criticizing Buhari’s handling of the nationwide #EndSARS protests against police brutality.

  1. With the current state of affairs in Nigeria, what is strange about calling for Buhari’s resignation? Infact, that should have been honorably done where we have real humans with a real heart in government.
