Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has sacked his special adviser on media, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, following his criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mr Yakasai had tweeted on Friday that the All Progressives Congress had failed to secure Nigerians.

His comments came in the wake of the abduction of 317 students of Government Girls Secondary School in Jangebe, Zamfara State.

He also said that if the abductions had happened during the Obasanjo and Jonathan administrations, there would have been more outrage in the north.

Hours after Yakasai’s viral tweets, one of Ganduje’s aides on Twitter @sadeqhenry said Yakasai had been picked up by the DSS.

“Alhamdulillahi we just confirmed @dawisu is at DSS office,” he tweeted.

Yakasai’s father, the elder statesman Tanko Yakasai said on Saturday that his son was arrested on his way to a barber shop.

“Yes, Salihu is with the security operatives since yesterday (Friday),” he said.

“He was arrested on his way to a barbing saloon. But I cannot confirm to you whether he is here in Kano or somewhere else.”

However, according to TVC News, Yakasai has been relieved of his duty.

The media aide was suspended in October last year for criticising the president’s handling of the EndSARS movement.
