The Taraba State Police Command says the bodies of the wives and children of the traditional Chief of Mutum Biyu, Sani Mohammed have been found.

Recall that gunmen stormed the town on January 19, carting away several hostages including the monarch’s family, in Jalingo.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Abdullahi Usman, said one of the children escaped and is currently receiving medical care in an undisclosed health facility.

Usman said the bodies of the victims were found in Daka village, a suburb of the Bali Local Government Area, in the early hours of Saturday.

The Government in a statement issued by Commissioner for Information and Reorientation, Lois Emmanuel, condemned the “barbaric, ungodly and inhuman” murder.

It reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a sufficient level of property and life protection and promised to strengthen collaboration with security agencies in the State to ensure the culprits are brought to justice.

Governor of the state, Darius Ishaku, expressed his condolences to the ruler and the citizens of the Mutum-Biyu Chiefdom for the unfortunate incident.

He prayed to God to grant the deceased victims eternal rest and the families the strength to endure the irreparable loss.
