Presidential aspirant Prince Adewole Adebayo has paid an emotional tribute to late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III.
He died on Friday at age 83 after a brief illness.
The renowned lawyer mourned the late Alaafin in a series of tweets on his Twitter handle on Saturday.
Describing his death as a personal loss, Adebayo noted that he shared deep paternal and ideological chemistry with the late king.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential aspirant also described the late Alaafin as a nationalist, Zikist, Pan Africanist encyclopedia of anthropology, politics, history and religion.
Adebayo therefore prayed for the people of Oyo State, the governor and Oloris.
His tweet reads, “ALAAFIN ASCENDS! With a deep sense of personal loss and national tragedy, I mourn the demise of Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Atanda Adeyemi III, Alaafin of Oyo after 51 years of meritorious graceful reign 29 of which Baba and I shared deep paternal, philosophical and ideological chemistry.
“Alaafin Adeyemi III was a nationalist, Zikist, Pan Africanist encyclopedia of anthropology, politics, history, religion, macroeconomics; avid polemicist, tireless boxer and voracious reader. I pray for Bashorun, Oyo Mesi, Oloris, Aremo, Omobas, Obas, Governor and people of Oyo.”
