Adele wins Artiste of the Year, two others at BRIT Awards

Grammy winner and British singer, Adele Laurel Blue Adkins, popularly known as Adele, has won big at the just concluded BRIT Awards 2022.

The Award night was held at the O2 Arena in London on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.

This year, the Music Award ceremony discarded gender specific categories for the first time. According to the organisers, they made that decision to award the singers solely on their achievements.

The mother of one won the Artist of the year with her song Easy on Me, Album of the year for the Album 30 and Song of the year for her song Easy on Me.

She also performed a song I Drink Wine from her album 30 in a shiny Valentino green gown.

Receiving the award for her album, she dedicated her Album of the Year trophy to her son, Angelo, and her ex-husband, Simon Konecki.

She said, “This album was all of our journey, not just mine, and I’m very proud of myself for sticking to my guns and putting out an album that was so personal to me — ’cause not many people do that any more.

“My son has been so kind and gracious and patient with me over the years.”

Other winners include Ed Sheeran who won the Songwriter of the Year Award, Dua Lipa, who won the British Pop/R&B Act Award, Billie Eilish won the International Artist Award, Olivia Rodrigo won International song Award and Silk Sonic won the International Group Award.

Ed Sheeran also performed his song Bad Habits.
