Adeleke urges Buhari to assent Nigeria peace corps bill

The Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to assent the Peace Corp Bill before he leaves office on May 29.

The governor made this appeal during the passing-out parade of a few corps officers on Saturday in Osogbo, the state capital.

According to Adeleke, who was represented by one of his aides, Ajisafe Toyese, the president’s assent to the law, will provide job opportunities for Nigerians and unemployed youth.

He said that the corps would support other security agencies’ untiring efforts to uphold peace throughout the nation.

Adeleke adviced the corps to band together in order to create a unified front in order to fulfill the purpose for which it was founded.

He also advised the new officer Cadets to carry out their tasks wherever they could be sent with focus and discipline.

Adeleke commended Dr. Mustapha Abubakar, the corps’ Commandant-General, and his commanders for ensuring the passing-out parade’s success.

The South-West Zonal supervision Training School was established in Osun under the supervision of Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, the Oni of Ife and Grand Patron of NPC.

Ogunwusi challenged the new officer cadets to be more disciplined, hardworking, determined, and committed in the performance of their tasks.

The traditional ruler thanked the governor for helping the corps succeed by providing support and encouragement.

The commandant-general thanked the president for agreeing to sign the measure creating the corps into law in his remarks.

He urged the incoming cadets to schedule time for personal growth because it would significantly improve the value of their contributions to NPC.
